Solo Rambles

I use to love my solo rambles in the pine barrens, on the shore, around and in Bonefish Pond including the difficult mangrove treks. Time to think, time to dream, time to sit, time to observe.

Morning

I like to get there early, before the place opens and the parking lot fills up. I like to cut my car off, but not all the way because I like to listen to sports talk out of Florida until the time is right. I like it best on rainy days when I can sit, cozy in my metal cocoon, waiting for my day to begin, for my new life to begin. On a perfect day, they will open the doors and spin the sigh around so that it reads OPEN instead of CLOSED just as the rain lets up a bit and the sports talk segment ends so that I can turn the key, hop out of the car and make it undercover without getting wet. I like to go inside and order a tuna and grits. A little slice of heaven to start the day off right.
